Did you guess Petaluma California? If you did then you are correct! It is pretty amazing to think that you can drive the same streets (Petaluma Boulevard, Kentucky Street, D Street) as Harrison Ford and the others in the movie American Graffiti.
Petaluma is yet another favorite choice of many of our Sonoma County Home Buyers. Petaluma is Eggcentric is a popular local saying. Petaluma certainly is an Eccentric city at times, and the Eggcentric saying also pays tribute to the city’s agricultural roots. From an original “cow town” to a bustling hip city with a lively downtown lifestyle, Petaluma is a favorite hangout for those of all ages.
Petaluma Real Estate is also a favorite of Sonoma County home buyers of all ages. Young and old residents alike love the central downtown that is alive with activity. Petaluma is also the southernmost city in Sonoma County. The city’s proximate location to Marin County (just 16 miles away) and San Francisco (just over 40 miles to the south) allow many residents to earn the high wages of the big city, and still live the laid back lifestyle of Sonoma County. Petaluma offers fun downtown living at such places like the Celsius 44 condos, as well as many great classic victorian homes that are within walking distance to restaurants and shops are what I am asked about most often. Petaluma not only offers some great walkable downtown living options, and also offers some great hillside and hilltop homes that offer great views of the valley.
Downtown Petaluma offers great places to eat such as Graffiti and Graziano’s. Downtown Petaluma also has many great shops such as De La Soul, World Of Stereo, Bici Sport, and the Petaluma Market. Petaluma also has a lively nightlife.
The Mystic, is a world famous club where you can see some live music shows on a weekly basis. Such acts as Blues Traveler, Les Claypool (of Primus fame, and local Sebastopol resident), Billy Bob Thornton, Ozomatli, Robert Cray, Roy Rogers And The Delta Rhythm Kings, Johnny Winter an others have all graced the Mystic stage in the past 12 months.
Petaluma is also famous for a few things. Petaluma is the home of Hollywood actress Winona Ryder, and the Petaluma Boulevard was the backdrop of the movie American Graffiti, Harrison Ford’s first film.
Is Petaluma California one of your new favorite places? It certainly is a favorite of many Sonoma County residents. In the next article I will be discussing another popular choice for Sonoma County home buyers. Not a large area, and named after a native American Chief, this tiny enclave celebrates Jom Boggio and the ”squeezebox” each year. Can you guess which city I am talking about?
