Cazadero California is a great little vacation spot. If you really want to get away, then Cazadero may be the best place to do just that. Cazadero is located 13 miles northwest of Guerneville, and is truly away from it all. Here is a little tip that will save you some time if you have never been to Cazadero. Do not trust your GPS to get there...the trip is an easy one if you know the way. Heading West on River Road (California Highway 116) turn North onto Cazadero Highway. Easy Enough right? HINT: Do not trust a GPS that says to take the Austin Creek Road/Old Cazadero Road route, as this is no longer a navigable route. Just this weekend I had to take several calls from someone who was lost on their way to Cazadero...after a little discussion, she found her way and made it there.

If you really want to get away, then Cazadero may be the best place to do just that. Cazadero is located 13 miles northwest of Guerneville, and is truly away from it all. Here is a little tip that will save you some time if you have never been to Cazadero. Do not trust your GPS to get there…the trip is an easy one if you know the way. Heading West on River Road (California Highway 116) turn North onto Cazadero Highway. Easy Enough right? HINT: Do not trust a GPS that says to take the Austin Creek Road/Old Cazadero Road route, as this is no longer a navigable route. Just this weekend I had to take several calls from someone who was lost on their way to Cazadero…after a little discussion, she found her way and made it there.

I am digressing…this hard to get to spot is well worth the drive. Cazadero is located within the redwoods of western Sonoma County, and things are a bit slower here. The main place to hang out is the Cazadero General Store which has been there since 1899. Many locals also meet for coffee, rustic breads and pastries at Raymond’s Bakery at Elm Grove in Cazadero.

Cazadero is known for being in the “Banana Belt” where fertile ground allows you to grow many varieties of plants and vegetables easily. Many Cazadero residents keep their own garden growing fresh fruits and vegetables and some even grow their own grapes.

Cazadero is a great place to visit and offers a truly unique west county lifestyle.
Guerneville California is a well known tourist and vacation spot located here in picturesque Sonoma County.

Guerneville, AKA GuerneVegas, is Sonoma County's own "City of Lights"...No...Not really. Guerneville is a remarkably tranquil place that allows you to forget about the faster pace life, at least for a little while. Even though this is a tranquil getaway, a lot goes on in Guerneville. There are plenty of places to eat, go out for fun, hotels that bring in new people each week, and also many annual festivals. Most notably the Annual Blues Festival held at Johnson Beach and the Annual Jazz Festival are two of the biggest events each year. These events bring in a lot of out of towners who help the local economy.

Guerneville is a remarkably tranquil place that allows you to forget about the faster pace life, at least for a little while. Even though this is a tranquil getaway, a lot goes on in Guerneville. Most notably the Annual Blues Festival held at Johnson Beach and the Annual Jazz Festival are two of the biggest events each year. These events bring in a lot of out of towners who help the local economy.

Guerneville life is centered around The Russian River. “The River” offers many fun activities; from canoeing and kayaking (if you do not have your own, no worries, rentals are available from many places along the river), to fishing, to sun bathing on the many beaches that seem to be in each bend of the river.

Do not forget to visit the home of one of Guerneville’s most famous residents…Korbel Champagne Cellars. Korbel offers a great tour of the champagne cellars, a tasting room that keeps your glass filled, and the scenic beauty of a well maintained 100+ year old establishment. Make sure you take the rose garden tour and also try the culinary delights of the Korbel Delicatessen.

Guerneville is also a beautiful place to visit. Guerneville not only has the beauty of a small town and a gorgeous river that winds along river Road, but this is also Redwood country. These redwoods are hundreds of years old, and reach all the way to the sky. Make sure you make a day trip to Armstrong Woods while in Guerneville.

Guerneville is a great place to visit and live.
